Where would you expect speed improvements?
From the line quoted above, which appears to infer that using XML::Parser for whatever it's used for is quicker than what it would do otherwise.
Could you give us the content of /etc/sysconfig/slimserver (if this exists)? And /etc/initi.d/slimserver?
I'll provide them when I get back to the machine tonight.
