The funniest thing about this whole thing is.....now that this conversation is "getting out of hand", people will start asking for this discussion to stop, where with a nice web-based forum, you can skip the thread, very easily.

(now where is everyone to preach about using GMAIL, or switching mail readers, or setting up different filters....blah blah blah)

What's ugly about e-mail? If you don't like the look of your mailer, use another one.

Doing this via email is a very fragmented way of holding discussion. I would rather see a thread of original post followed by replies. If someone replies to that thread years later the whole thread is brought to the top of the current threads where anyone can catchup and participate.

I fail to see what's not straight forward about e-mail. I don't want to register at another forum, give up lots of personal information only to have to remember another password. Every time I switch browsers, the cookie info on read/unread threads is most likely lost.

I don't experience any of the issues you have with web forums and nor does the vast majority of people who use them which is why they are far more popular than email mailing lists.

Sure, having a forum saves you from having to read most messages, so less questions get answered and less people know about an issue if it was posted OT in another thread.

That is not correct. Threads are presented from start to finish in a much easyer to follow format with a web forum.

Thanks for insulting me.

That was a reply to Paul not you.

Now that specialized web sites and forums have replaced mailing lists, everybody is after the RSS feeds. I wonder if that is because push is better than pull for a lot of applications?

I am new here and Its not my intention to war with a few die hards who refuse to modernize. My concern is Slim Devices and making its support more accessible for the majority.
Looking over the archive shows clear evidence that the current system is inadequate for many people. As I said before, I suspect the majority don't even have a voice here.
