Sorry - can't fix this without changing mplayer or slimserver. [neither of which is going to be part of Alien!]
The issue is that mplayer does not check when writing output to see if there is a write error or message from the pipe saying it is closed. This is the only method slimserver currently uses to move onto the next file (i.e. slimserver just closes the pipe, but does not try to kill the process).
I suspected this might be the case.
However if we play a radio stream, then select another then mplayer is successfully killed (there is a code for this in mplayer.sh for the streaming sections).
Can the same code be used for the local file section to kill the process?

Rather belatedly, the AlienBBC team would like to announce the release of new versions of AlienBBC.
To confuse matters, we're releasing two today - Version 0.97, and Version 0.95. If at all possible,
we think you should use V0.97, but if that causes you problems, then v0.95 might be the one for you.
V0.97 is designed for use with slimserver v6, and is generally better, but hasn't been tested quite as
much as we'd like. V0.95 will work with slimserver5.4.1, and is a little more tested. See which one
you'd like.
We'd also like to take this moment to welcome Neil Slightholm to the team. A lot of the current changes
are down to him, so thank-you very much, Neil - I promise I'll try to get this stuff out faster in future!
New in these versions are the following:
0.97
- Enhanced Web interface - support for Fishbone, Handheld, Default and Default2 skins
- Change update menu structure - 99% of menus should now lead to working links
- Added web page caching for BBC web site (this defaults to off, but can be enabled from the Server Settings - Plugin web page)
- Added support of 6.1 "Radio" section on Web pages (thanks to Michael Herger for this)
- Support for AlienStream playlists under 6.0
0.96 (internal development version - not released)
0.95 (New features included in both 0.95 and 0.97) - Support of 6.0 Softsqueeze and Squeezebox2 - Linux/OSX - support of wma streaming on 6.0 via mplayer
Oh. And a few other notes, which might be useful, which haven't made it to the site:
- Windows version: AlienBBC is only compatible with Windows 2000/NT and XP
- Linux/OSX users: if you had a previous version installed please delete the old mplayer.sh file as 0.95 and 0.97 move the location
of this file (to ~/Bin), so your old one will not be overwritten with the new one
- If you use a later release of mplayer than mplayer pre6, then you will need to edit the slimserver-convert.conf file [and also
mplayer.sh for linux/OSX] to comment out the default conversion commands and use the alternative ones provided.
