I am not using an external DAC at the moment so I'd rather spare us both the hassle of sending my unit back to fix it. Does this have to be done now, or could I have it fixed whenever I decide to upgrade to a DAC and find I am affected?
Whenever. Optical is totally unaffected by the way, so this is only an issue IF you're using coax AND you encounter loss of sync. As far as we know only about 1 in 100 receivers exhibit this.
