VAT certainly will be applied to anything sold from the UK to the EU.
Sorry mea culpa, I meant prices within the EU are normally quoted inclusive of VAT and that the customs people will not charge VAT on top of difference fees and levies that will apply to imports of electronics from the US.
However, I recently ordered some electronics from another retailer in the US. The shipment was handled by UPS. Upon receipt I noted that the retailer had labelled the shipment as "documents" in order to avoid customs. Smart.
