There is an excellent primer linked right from the Softsqueeze help page
in the Slim Server web browser that tells you what needs to be done to
set up SSH properly on your host machine.

In my case (running Linux) I needed to do several things.

1. On my NAT/Router/Firewall box forward all port 22 traffic to the IP
of the Slim Server.

2. Set up the SSH config file on my server box (/etc/ssh/ssh_config)
to allow access (I turned authentication on)

3. In Softsqueeze I checked "use ssh tunnel" and then I input as the
SSH server IP the IP address of my NAT/Router provider IP address. I
then put in my SSH username and password and checked store password.

I needed no ssh proxy information (set to none).

I start up softsqueeze, it says starting ssh client, prompted me the
first time for the password a few times and then after that it runs
great. I set bandwidth limiting to 128kbps to avoid unecessary
attention at work and to avoid saturating the uplink on my cable modem.
