Plugged in my new Squeezebox and slimserver and in 15 minutes I was up and running. Put my old Audiotron to paperweight use.
Anyway, we have a ton (1000+) of burned CDs and I can never remember which ones I like (my wife has the memory).
Anyway, is there any alternative front end or add on which would allow me as I'm listening to an album to rate it and have this stored in an internal database so over time I can identify which albums I like or don't like?
Thanks
at this point external apps are integrated to provide this sort of information. Typically iTunes, MusicMagic, or AudioScrobbler are used, with more or less integration. I don't think any of them are really oriented to doing exactly what you ask, unless you use that external app a lot.
I like AudioScrobbler's approach, which is to have Slimserver report what you listen to -- it then rates what you like, suggests other things that you might like, and best of all provides a internet radio station which is geared to your tastes. The released version of the Slimscrobbler plugin is currently very broken, so CVS is required; if you're on Linux I can provide you an RPM of the CVS version.
