I will be worth you having a look though the AlienBBC threads in the Plugins forum.
You need to verify that softsqueeze/slimserver all woks by playing an MP3 or something, then if you still need help you'll nedd to post details of your OS and which versions of slimserver/softsqueeze you're running (plus by the looks of it, the version of MPlayer too).
