I tagged my WAV files with MusicMatch. I'm using the paid version -- I'm
not sure what restrictions the free version has. The tags seem to work
perfectly on Slimserver. I even get artwork.

If you are using CDDB to tag existing files (i.e., not ripping from a CD),
it can be a bit cumbersome because Musicmatch doesn't guess the whole
album -- it might think tracks are coming from two or more albums. You can
select the correct albums, but it takes time. If you rip with MusicMatch,
it will guess the whole album.

I hope that helps.
