yes, but they are handled differently, based on extension.
unfortunately, it would be overwritten. There is support for custom-types.conf that wouldn't be overwritten, but that is really only useful for adding custom types.
Also, will types.conf be overwritten by installing a nightly build or will it be preserved by the Windows installer?
