Johnny: I think you can assume by the quote above that he is re-archiving his collection from the original CDs to FLAC. As you mentioned, MP3 is lossy. Coverting an MP3 to FLAC is going to sound exactly the same as the MP3 except with a much bigger filesize. DrNic: EAC will rip directly to FLAC (or at least will convert WAVs to FLACs and delete the WAVs) by following this guide: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=30959 (perhaps this is what you ment).
