You can upgrade the WRT54G to act as in client mode by using one of a number of free firmware upgrades (www.linksysinfo.com is a good way into this). So you could buy another wrt54G or upgrade your main router to a later model and flash your original. I run two WRT54G - both with Sveasoft Satori firmware, one as my main router, and one as a client supporting a TiVo and an SB1.
