FWIW, I have the same problem. Interestingly, I use one of those X10 Pyramid remote extenders (all my audio equipment is in a rack in the back of the room) and when it happens, usually the pyramid's light will have blinked as well -- so apparently there are spurious IR commands being picked up by the X10 and then forwarded on to my audio rack. The Squeezebox is the only device that ever reacts to them though.

I've got one of the original wired squeezeboxes which occasionally
behaves very strangely.

At random intervals, whether the unit is switched on or off, the
display reacts as though someone pushed a bunch of buttons on the
remote control. It might be the volume going up or down, or skipping a
track, or random navigation. Sometimes it even turns itself on or off,
probably responding to a ghost on/off button press.

Suffice to say, no one is operating the SB remote control, or in fact,
any other IR remote control when this happens. It's quite random and
spurious. However, there is a small flourescent lamp on the desk that
shines directly onto the SB's IR detector. Don't know for sure if this
is the cause... but it seems that when it's switched off, the symptoms
don't appear (not tested scientifically).

Does anyone know if the SB is particularly sensitive to spurious IR
commands?

TIA,
Nico
