My only comment would be that power usage is negligable. According the the specs the SB2 uses 5v @ 1A, which is 5W. Given a power cost of $0.10/KWh it will cost something like $4 a year (corrections to my maths welcome).
I just discovered that my own Squeezebox 2 is also not powering off when my computer is asleep.
And the Squeezebox is noticeably warm after some six hours of the computer being asleep.
But I haven't checked if it is warm when the computer is on but the Squeezebox is off.
