Here's a pick of one of the amps I built for my SB2s.

It's in a 270x170x65 ish die-cast box and includes a mains PSU using a
160VA 18V-0-18V toriodal transformer, which (as you can see)is the main
space consumer.  For better amplifier performance you could use 2 160VA
transformers; one per channel.

The boxes screw onto the wall at mains socket/skirting level and are
therefore generally out of sight.  There's no volume control needed
'cos the digital one on the SB2 works fine.  The amps feed wall mounted
JBL Control 1 speakers (which are available for £70 in the UK).  I
adapted standard speaker brackets to work with the JBLs 'cos the JBL
ones are (a) ugly and (b) expensive.

It all works pretty well.
