My rule for estimating software project times:
- Make my best estimate
- Double it
- Add one of the next higher unit
Thus a 1-day project becomes 1 week plus 2 days, a 1-week project becomes 1
month plus 2 weeks, and a 1-month project becomes 1 year plus 2 months.
One-year or longer projects can't be completed.
