This was the conclusion I eventually came to but hadn't updated this
post - it seems the most one can do by modifying the SlimServer code is
adjust the frequency bias.

SoftSqueeze does indeed achieve a fairly (but not 100%) accurate
representation of an SB2 spectrum analyzer. :)
