I'm seeing similar behaviour on my Qnap TS 109II, SC 7.01, and a Windows
XP laptop. I wish I had more to add, but here's a nugget of information
from a full "clear and rescan" scanner logfile:

0356: [08-08-17 13:10:50.3222] MPEG::Audio::Frame::broken (618)
Warning: Use of uninitialized value in right bitshift (>>) at
/share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MPEG/Audio/Frame.pm line 618, <$mpeg>
chunk 10.
0355:
0354: [08-08-17 11:47:34.5347] MPEG::Audio::Frame::broken (621)
Warning: Use of uninitialized value in right bitshift (>>) at
/share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/lib/MPEG/Audio/Frame.pm line 621, <$mpeg>
chunk 3.
0353:

Notice the times? The gap of no errors is pretty much exactly when my
client PC was powered down. Now, it doesn't look like the scan is
proceeding more quickly (I seem to be coming in for a ~4 hour scan of
18K .mp3 tracks), but there's clearly something going on between the
client PC and the NAS.

I'm running Norton 360, and my next task is to try and get it to ignore
my network drive to see if that improves anything.
