I think it's a discussion I don't want to get into again :) There's been a number of threads about this in the Audiophile forum. Put simply, yes the sound quality will be worse when you use the digital volume control at less than 100%. The question is how much worse, and whether you will be able to tell. The general consensus seems to be that for most people and most systems, it really makes no difference. I fall into that category and happily use it, even on my Transporter (gasp!).
