How are you creating the Shortcut - using the Wizard or manually? If manually, IIRC you must to create the shortcut in the folder that you want to link to, (C:\Users\Ronny\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Music in your example) for it to work properly, then cut and paste it to your Music folder. It's a quirk of Vista. From your description you may well be doing this, but thought I would mention.
