I failed to explain that "SPL" stands for "Sound Pressure Level". 0dB SPL is defined as a pressure change of 20uPa (microPascals), and is generally accepted as the threshold of human hearing. (For reference, normal atmospheric pressure is about 100 kiloPascals, so the quietest noise a human can detect is one that varies ambient pressure by about one part in 5 billion).

If you're referring to the volume scale on a Squeezebox, then it goes up to 100, not 89. Each number represents 0.5dB, so when you're listening at 70, that's 15dB below the Squeezebox's maximum output. -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51320 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
