Being a proponent of the largest artwork possible in Now Playing, I had a search for the bug. There was this one*, which was marked a duplicate of the 'now playing issues umbrella' bug**. I added my comments to the latter, so apologies if there was a more appropriate place or if I should've opened a new request.
My other thought was to have a 'Show Artwork' screensaver as an option, in which the covers are the same size as when you choose show artwork from track details.
