IMHO, the "best" solution is to locate the computer running slimserver well away from your listening environment so noise is not an issue, and size is less of a problem. It's cheaper too as you don't have to have the server on display so looks are not an issue and you can use any old frankenstein machine!
Best solution, maybe, but not cheaper: I can't move to another appartment just because of lack of a "server room" :-)
