I have a SB3 in the bedroom. It's connected via the analogue line out to
a Parasound zAmp amplifier to some Anthony Gallo A'Diva Ti speakers. I
use the SB3 remote to control the volume since there's no preamp. The
amp is auto-switching so I don't even need to power it on/off. Works
great.

I also use the digital line out to send a signal to a Headroom Portable
Desktop Amp. I used to have fixed digital line out to this since the amp
has a volume control. When listening to the headphone amp I'd just turn
the SB3 volume to zero and the speakers were silent but I'd be in
headphone heaven.

Now with SC 7.2 I've noticed that the option "Output level is fixed at
100%" applies to BOTH the digital and analogue lines. The other option
"Volume control adjusts outputs" makes both variable. This is most
annoying as now I cannot use my system as I carefully set it up. I
don't like any of the possible solutions that I can think of now:

1: buy a preamp (costs money and I can't hide it, the system is in the
bedroom and WAF is vital.

2: turn on/off the amp by hand (while this would work I suppose, it's
mounted on the backside of a dresser, hidden out of sight, not really
an easy thing to turn on/off.

I know it's possible to have fixed digital line outs and variable
analogue line outs as that's how I've been using it for the past year;
now my setup is useless. Could this PLEASE be restored? I can see the
value in making both fixed and both variable, but maybe a third option:
Fixed digital/Variable analogue (who knows, maybe a 4th too: variable
digital/fixed analogue?) would solve the problem.
