I intend voting as well (once I get a bugsilla a/c) BTW - DSLReports has a very good WOL FAQ here http://www.dslreports.com/faq/wol
Basically the SB2 needs to know the MAC address of the server it is trying to Wake and then Broadcast a magic packet (the MAC address *16 times) on the subnet. Your router picks up the broadcast and send it out to each device connected to it. Only the NIC with the correct MAC address "hears" the broadcast and wakes up. The complicated bit is first to set up the NIC on the PC to actually perform a Wake On Lan when it gets the packet. Then the SB2 needs to figure out the MAC of that NIC, but that probably be done by analysing a packet of data during setup, when the SB2 connects to the Slimserver. -- oreillymj _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
