Itunes stores the album art in an odd fashion (there are a number of other posts about this).
SC cab only see the album art if it is either embedded into the music file or it is contained in a cover.jpg (or similar) file in the album directory. If you are using windows, you can use MP3tag to see whether the album art is embedded or not.
