It has a serious DAC, and the Controller is actually a very powerful computer, better than my desktop was of say 1999.
But you may have noticed that there has been a lot of activity about the SqueezeBox Boom. And thus making the headphone jack work has not been a top priority. Slim Devices/Logitech never comments about futures, so we don't know where it is in a release schedule. You could, of course, hack some Lua to make it happen sooner.
