I've seen the same thing - for me, IIRC it happened when I used the remote to select an album in my music library, then later used the computer running the Slim server to change to a Pandora station. Remote control stayed stuck on the album, only way I found to get it to recover was to pull the battery out, wait a while, put it back in.
