I'm not sure if this will help you, but I had something similar happen to me last night (although I'm running SC 7.2 on a Linux box, not ReadyNAS; and my Receiver is wired, not wireless).
Symptom: I was able to play music through the Receiver from SC, but the Controller just refused to detect a player. The Controller was connected to the wireless network, and all my other wireless devices were working fine, including my ipod Touch. Since I could play music through SC, I assumed it was a Controller or wireless network issue (bad decision on my part). I power cycled the router (a Lynksys WRT54GL running Talisman/Mesh V1.3.5), power cycled the Controller, did a hard reset of the Controller, and recycled SC. Still nothing! In desperation, I power cycled the Receiver (which is wired AND was able to play music through SC). In fact, at the time I cycled power on the Receiver, it was actually playing music! After that, the Controller immediately detected the Player, and everything was back to normal.
