The Gmane interface seems to be working OK. There is a short delay in messages being posted though, I think it's a maximum of 10 minutes, which I can live with for the added convenience. It's a little clunky to set up as you have to subscribe to the mail interface in order to post messages back to the forum. I'm using the SSL version which I presumed would be authenticated such that the forum would be able to keep track of my post count and display my account info and avatar on the web interface.
