All this does is store some tags in the music files such that if you ever move the physical location of the files, or need to reinstall MusicIP, the analysis will be quicker second time round.
In fact, many people are concerned about allowing MusicIP to write tags back to the files (me included - I don't do it any more with mp3 tags since I found it loses multiple genres in id3v2.3 tags, although I haven't seen any problems with FLAC). >I then go to the headless web page and do an Add Music on my music >folder path, then Refresh Songs, then Start Validation. When that's >done I then do a Squeezecenter rescan....haven't paid much attention to >the results but it seems to be working. > Yes, you can do that, but rather than typing in a pathname, and refreshing every now and then to determine when analysis is complete, I prefer to use the MusicIP GUI.
