as long as the netbook meets the minimum specs for the squeezecenter
software it should be fine, as since your music is flac the software
shouldn't have to encode the music first. 

if you get a qnap you can actually install slimserver or squeezecentre
on it so you dont even need a pc running to play music, but i have
found the web interface is slower than using pc/laptop as server for
the software. 

cheapest option might be to get a usb HDD for the music and plug it
into the netbook.
