Stick with the Pre-N, get a replacement, and i think you'll be very

My Belkin Pre-N bit the dust hard. I was on tech support doing all
their diagnostics and they finally gave up and sent me a new one. It
wouldn't talk to the internet at all, which was a problem, I felt.
Belkin wasn't aghast at my using Linux, either, like Comcast has been
when I've called them, but that's another story.
no, they were very good with that. Though, there was a bit of a pause
when I started listing off my network: winxp, win2k, osx, mandrake
linux, debian linux and squeezeboxen :) However, it did convince them
that my case wasn't just a setup problem with one type of hardware. It
is encouraging to hear they are good with reeplacements.
My SB1 started having too frequent drop-outs even with the new Pre-N.
I got a wireless g bridge (also Belkin) and socked that into the back
of the squeezbox1 and everything since has been swell. I still get a
drop when the cordless phone rings, and once in a while at random, but
things are fine now that I've moved to wireless G.
I've got a 5.8GHz phone, and that rarely affects the squeeezebox. In
theory, it shouldn't affect it at all, but some channels do tend to
cause the display to twitch a bit in scrolling. I haven't had it long
enough to see what happens with audio. I'm expecting the SB2 buffer to
be more than capable.
I'm now playing a lot of kids' music-- Laurie Berkner, Wiggles, Dan
Zanes. My kids are taking over my life-- even the squeezebox.
kids are always the real tech market :)
