Hi,

My Sb3 behaves weirdly, I'll begin with my setup story
When I first got my sb3 I connect it directly to Pc.the sb3 was in my
room in the 3rd floor, and the pc was on the 2nd floor. A few months
later I move it with my rig to the 1st floor which is used for Internet
cafe. I use Dlink Switch there,so connection from sb3 to the billing pc
is now indirect through the switch with a straight thru ethernet cable.
after a few days I encounter a total network failure due to the Dlink
switch stop working, it turned out to be needing a restart
periodically. I return the dlink switch(under warranty) for an
replacement one, but after a few weeks I encounter the same problem.
Then I bought a new Dlink same model but from different seller and I
return to old configuration connecting sb3 directly to the billing PC.
In this configuration the sb3's ip address didn't detected (request
time out, subnet mask are the same, I keep re crimping the utp cable to
no avail), then I guess I have to try reboot the sb3 (replugging the DC
power) and it worked the LED on the networking port is on. After I
switch to this configuration the network never crash.
3 months later I move my sb3 back to the 3rd floor, this time it
connect to 2nd floor PC indirectly through Corega switch which also
connect to the new Dlink switch in 1st floor.
A serious trouble happened after a power grid black out restored I
found the sb3 displays scrambled picture scrolling to left. The player
was not found in Squeeze center. rebooting the sb3 didn't work, it
won't go to setup menu . Finally after I hold orange power button on
remote for 3 sec. Then I get connected to Squeezecenter but the display
still scrolling to the left. After updating firmware the scrolling was
gone, a few days later I found a message apeear on sb3 it was "ethernet
cable disconnected...etc" it won't respond to remote, the corega switch
still on, the computer too was on but the switch's port LED is off so I
checked for loose ehternet cable, and restart the PC. I went upstair the
messege was still on. It didn't respond to the remote then I try to
reboot the player, It shows scrambled display, once I pressed power on
it goes to setup menu, after re entering
Squeezecenter's ip address, etc it connonce again I can play music
normally. Now everytime the message appear, and I can connect to SC(the
scrolling doesn't stop until I update the firmware)firmware version 112,
Squeeze center version 7.2
What's wrong with my SB3 what cause it? is it forbidden to use with a
switch
Will it gets worse? how much will a repair cost? What a bad luck I
bought sb3 to replace my 16 month broken cd player.

I am sorry you have to bear with my story

Looking forward to hear from you

wun
