For me, the biggest advantage/benefit to the new controller is the fact that you don't need line-of-sight to control my receiver in the living room...
I have set up patio speakers as a "SpeakerB" set from my living room receiver, and used to have to walk over to my patio door just to control volume and music selection... Now, with the WiFi enabled remote, I don't have the line-of-sight requirement...
