Are you trying to play the songs directly from the Music Folder view or the Album view (or similar), or are you trying to play the songs via playlists?
There is an open bug about files with special characters not playing via playlists, but I think it's common to all platforms, not just Windows. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4578 Do the files show up in Squeezecenter Library, but just don't play when you click on them, or do they not scan at all? Anything in the server.log file when you try to play the files (follow the link from Settings/Status page)? Are you using iTunes or MusicIP integration?
