I wouldn't mind just adding in an alphabet list. Whenever I select Browse Albums, I'd first go to an #,A-Z selector. Pressing the center button twice would start the list at the top as it does now. Selecting K would take you somewhere near the middle of the list, from where you can move up to J or down to L by scrolling through the albums. The wiggling stuff sounds a bit to unpredictable to me.
