The only thing I can thing of if you can change the firmware in the SB to accept other IR codes for a device you no longer have in your rack. Of course that means using another remote, maybe a old DVD player remote?
Just thought of something else. Stick to IR control for the CDP, but for the SB3 use RF. Buy a universal remote, I know my MX-850 allows this- on the SB3 device set to RF only. For the CDP device use IR. Then buy a RF receiver with IR blaster wire, place that on the IR window on the SB3 but you also have to make sure when using the IR remote for the CDP the SB does not receive these signals. That remote will cost your about £150.
