One interesting thing is that if I click (in the Web interface) on a position in the time slider, then subsequent play after pauses return to that position rather than the start of the song. This is true in both 0.8-12 and 0.8-26. Another clue is that when I play a track from the beginning, pressing pause stops the track as expected then pressing play restarts from the beginning.
