I am bumping an old thread since I have the exact same problem and have not found a solution in the SC settings.
For tracks that don't belong to an album I would expect them to show up as "No Album by <Artist A>" when browsing artists. Instead of "No Album by <Artist A>, <Artist B>, <Artist C>" etc, i.e. all artists that have a track with no album tag.
