Name resolution occurs either by Netbios or DNS. For DNS, one of your machines must act as a DNS server to resolve "names" to "addresses." In your case, loftviao = 192.168... For Netbios to work, you need to ensure that 1) all named machines are on the same subnet, and 2) you invoke Netbios on the network cards for resolving names. On XP, this is done on the TCP/IP setting checkbox, "enable Netbios over TCP/IP"
