I think it's also partly down to the fact that there is a whole universe of traditional hifi audiophile "experts" out there that are terrified of digital audio, and based on 1,038,814 different false assumptions and bad snake oil science, spend a significant out of time and effort telling people that moving away from CD based systems means you can't achieve the same quality, even decent quality.
