make sure that the external HD (wherever it is) is mounted properly to the OS *before* SqueezeCenter starts, otherwise I think SC will remove the database and consider the music "gone". And never unmount that disk while SC is running.
If I got this correctly SC is on the Asuss EEE, music is on the NAS.
