My 2 cents: - 24/192 support: yes, that's childish, I can't even find 24/96 material that suit my musical tastes, but the more the better. - better DAC: a very well done, 400 DIY DAC clearly defeated my Transporter saturday, and I'm now feeling depressed - analog volume control: I've tried using my TP as a preamp recently, and it was simply unbearable to my ears. Disabling volume control on the Transporter and using a used 200 pre offered far better results.
IMHO, so nice the actual Transporter is, its retail price is far too high for what it gives (got mine with a 40% rebate, and am still thinking it's a bit expensive). In my experience, if you get a SB3 and a good DAC, you'll have something performing - for 99% of the people - equally, if not better than the Transporter. -- sebp System : Mac Mini for ripping to FLAC (XLD) > SqueezeCenter 7.3 running on a ReadyNAS NV+ Living room : Transporter > NuForce IA-7 v2 > KEF iQ9 Bedroom : Squeezebox 3 > Beresford DAC > NAD C315BEE > KEF iQ3 Kitchen : SB Receiver > Trends Audio TA10.1 > Celestion F10 Bathroom : SB Boom 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/sebp) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ sebp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11768 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64706
