Almost all my FLACs are ripped CDs - so 16.44.1. I have a Gimmell Studio master Downloads at 24/96. http://www.gimell.com/catalogue.aspx?filter=Studio+Master If I compare the 24/96 file played from the PC via Foobar in ASIO mode driving a Beresford DAC with the downsampled 24/48 file I hear no difference. But a comparison between either of the above (24/96 or 24/48) and my very best CDs (16/44.1) also shows little difference. These numbers are not as important as the quality of the original recording - artistic performance, microphone technique, mixing etc. There is a caution: some folk have reported the processor running Squeezecentre is too slow to do the downsampling. Other than that the numbers are not that important for the enjoyment of the music 16/44.1, 24/48 and 24/96 are all plenty good enough. Just enjoy the music. -- Labarum Brian Squeezebox 3 Classic and Virgin Cable Box Beresford DAC TC-7520SE (Caiman) - Quad 405-2 refurbished by 405man Quart 980s Speakers Boom in kitchen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Labarum's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19963 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64706 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
