When it crashes, post /tmp/slimserver.log (can someone who uses
Mac OSX regularly confirm this is the right path?) to the list.
The end of the log file should explain what caused it to fall over.
FYI: I found the log at /user/library/logs/slimserver.log
Jack, I did as you suggested. There are now 10% more songs listed than
before (~5,100 up from ~4,700). However searching still creates a
crash.
My log file is here http://noonoo.net/slimserverlog.txt
The error that seems to take place regularly in recent history is:
"Modification of a read-only value attempted at
/Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server/Slim/Web/HTTP.pm
line 1194.
Earlier in the log (at the top) there is a healthy selection of many
kinds of errors.
FWIW, I regularly fix permissions on my Mac - leads me to think some
file referred to in the code is hosed, but I'm just guessing!
What's next?
doesn't look like the d_scan step took, there's no messages about the
scanning. Yeah, that HTTP.pm thing does look a bit suspicious, but:
a) I don't know the code well enough to say what causes it
b) while sometimes it immediately precedes a shutdown, there are
instances where the shutdown is seconds or minutes later; the last one
in the file precedes shutdown by over an hour.
