You better get a NAS with an "real" x86 processor preferable more than >1GHz and 1GB of ram. but that's awfully close to a barebone or homebuilt server appliance of some kind.

Browse that forum for a while there are hundreds of good(and bad) solutions there. Your question is a bit to open there is not one answer. Some things to consider: Do you have to transcode or are you only using formats that are native to a squeezebox. Do you use hirez material ( again transcoding ) Is the WEB-UI important for you (performance hog) Do you have a very large collection. Many players ? Music IP ?
