The BBC app just gives you the main BBC national stations in WMA formats i.e. Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 4LW, 5Live, 6Music, BBC 7 and World service. These streams will be available without an SBS running. However some of the URLs seems to be out of date and are not reliable for UK listeners.
BBCiPlayer needs an SBS running but it provides access all BBC radio streams National, regional and local and also iPlayer contents which are 7 days programs. By default the audio is streamed in Flash/ AAC format which is better quality than the WMA. AAC requires transcoding for older players so for UK listeners (and especially NAS users) - the AAC format can be disabled so that it will use WMA or MP3 as appropriate and play natively on the players. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69031 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
