Thanks Phil. your words 'ticking time bomb' are all I need to hear to stop me hooking up the PSX. I don't remember the date on the stickers inside the kit, but it definitely was 80's not 90's.
The rocker switch amp will be the newer of the two so I will stick with this on it's own for the time being. A good friend is a Chief Artificer in the navy and he might be the man to replace the caps for me. I would feel safer putting the kit in to his hands than some unknown shop. I might text him now to see where in the world he is!
