some times it can be that the analog ins on most recievers are digitized
anyway.

So one is listening to DA-AD-DA wich is not good .
You seldom get the full resolution as often this input is rather
unsesitive to aviod clipping .

Use an spl meter and compare the volume ,before listening maybe one is
louder than the other , subtle volume changes is percived as "better" by
our brain. If one source is 2dB louder you won't hear that as loud but
rather like "better" when you switch.

So for most receivers the obvious input is the digital one.

The only subtle manipulation sbs and the squeezebox may be guilty of is
replay gain, ei equalization of volume between tracks . But if you turn
of this or do not have replay gain tags it wont matter.
So the squeezebox pass bitferfect audio on its digital out.
